living life together as we seek and follow Jesus

a little about us

Immanuel Church has a long heritage in Zanesville. It was founded by immigrants in 1818 and is the most historic church in the county. In 1958, a merger of two churches formed Immanuel Church. Today, we are working hard to follow Jesus and see our community transformed by His Spirit, setting the stage for the next 200 years of community that will come after us.

We are a simple church that is regularly engaged in Christ-centered worship. It’s all about Jesus, after all.

We are a community of people learning to follow Jesus together. Everyone, including YOU, is welcome.

You can read a little about our leadership and staff here.

what to expect

We gather every Sunday at 10:00 for our time of worship and teaching. It's a bit different, though.

Have you ever heard a pastor say something that prompted a question you wish you could have asked? Maybe you wanted to know more or disagreed with a point. In most circumstances, saying something would be out of order.

Not here. The conversation is open, and always lively.

God speaks through the gathered body of believers, and we encourage that body to speak.

Of course, everyone can participate - or not - as they see fit.

RESOURCES

GROUPS

We have a small, but growing, number of active groups. If you are interested, click here to see available groups.

DAILY REFLECTIONS

Daily readings (schedule permitting) based on selected readings from The Book of Common Prayer.

If you’d like to incorporate them into your daily routine, they are available on our facebook page, here.

PODCAST

Pastor Sam hosts a regular podcast called THE RECOVERY, which includes several series found on the podcast pages. Links: Apple Podcast, Spotify, Direct link

The Sermons is exactly that - the weekly conversations from our Sunday morning gatherings.

The Aftermath is a periodic conversation that happens between members of the community and Sam during the week. It is an opportunity to ask questions and explore ideas that were bigger than or outside the scope of the conversation on Sunday.

Episodes is a series of conversations about rediscovering the ancient faith in order to reclaim our own. They consist of periodic discussions either by Sam or with other guests that are geared towards helping the church "recover" a more orthodox and faithful understanding of our beliefs and practices.

We are the band which plays on Sunday morning. We play a variety of styles of music including bluegrass, country, and blues/rock influenced modern praise and worship.

In addition to Sunday mornings, you can catch us at any number of events throughout the year including JamFest, TruLight’s Thanksgiving dinner celebration, Open Mic night’s at Tree of Life, and a number of others. Be sure to follow Immanuel’s Facebook page for details on upcoming shows.

If you’re a musician, vocalist, of FOH technician who would like to join us, if even just to jam on rehearsal nights, get ahold of us here

The collective is a group of creators including musicians, artists, podcasters, videographers, and others who collaborate to make content for the church as whole. The center of operation is the studio housed at Immanuel Downtown. It is an open to all who wish to make use of it. So, if you are creator, get ahold of us here.
